While its somewhat small size and population may cause County Sligo to be overlooked, it is actually filled with historical and cultural attractions that are worth a visit. Carrowmore, an ancient cemetery that is one of the four major passage tomb cemeteries in Ireland, is situated on the Cuil Irra Peninsula in Sligo. There are over 30 megalithic tombs still in existence at Carrowmore. Sligo's awe-inspiring landscape was the subject of many of the works of Nobel Laureate W.B.
