This course opened in 2003 features the handy work of course architect Jeff Brauer, who expertly routed the course around 50 acres of wetlands on the 400-acre site. The transformation of The Wilderness site into today's stunning golf course facility also included the installation of an extra-large irrigation system and holding ponds to prevent polluted runoff from entering the wetlands. Numerous wetlands and streams stretch through the course, but the course was designed so that no walking or riding bridges span the wetlands. Still a bit undiscovered, the course offers a unique, peaceful alternative, only 45 minutes from the somewhat overbuilt Houston market, where players can combine a nature walk with a challenging and enjoyable golf course.
