Located just off go I-35 some 16 miles west of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, the Arthur Hills-designed Wolfdancer Golf Club is one of the very best courses you can play in Texas s capital region let alone the entire Lone Star State. The highly scenic layout is just a lob wedge up from the parking lot that the course shares with the family-friendly Old West-themed Hyatt Regency Lost Pines. You don t need to stay at the luxurious, amenity-rich resort anyone can play Wolfdancer Golf Club. The wonderfully varied playing field rambles alongside a nature preserve above the banks of the Lower Colorado River and moves between rolling prairie, a heavily wooded ridgeline, and a river valley plain. Lined by gorgeous pecan and post oak trees, Wolfdancer Golf Club s holes tie in well together and build momentum as the round progresses. Panoramic prairie holes at the outset constitute the most difficult stretch at Wolfdancer Golf Club. (Hopefully you ve warmed up on the expansive range so you can survive the first four holes.) Arthur Hills built beautiful par 3s here. There s eye candy galore at the 6th, where a cascading waterfall and stream flow into a couple of larger pools in front of the small green. For sheer drama, nothing at Wolfdancer Golf Club beats the 12th. Called Top of the World, this magnificent par 3 looks out on half of Bastrop County before plunging 100 feet to the green. While Wolfdancer Golf Club will test even the strongest of players, from the proper set of tee markers it is a course everyone can handle and enjoy.
