Nestled in the scenic farmland of the rolling hills just south of Nolensville, the Lightning Bug Par 3 Course is a hidden gem that some golfers would prefer stay hidden so they can keep it to themselves. Bill Blackburn designed and built the course to help his daughter learn the game (she eventually played college golf). The par 27 course, which has holes that range from around 90 yards to 170 yards, is a fun, friendly layout that golfers of all abilities love to play. The layout and atmosphere are perfect for beginners, or families, or even better players who simply want to relax or work on their short game. It can also be challenging with some narrow fairways and some carries over penalty areas. The course is on a beautiful setting with some elevated tees, water, bunkers, and small, but well-maintained greens. Adding to authentic feel of the place is a no-frills milk barn that serves as the Lightning Bug Par-3 Course?s clubhouse and maintenance facility. The course even has a pond that?s stocked full of bass, bluegill and catfish. Green fees are among the lowest in the country, but the value is among the highest.
