Welcome to the Private made Public, where Desert Island members and visitors mix in an updated, upgraded, thoroughly reanimated country club scene. Only on DI can you play a public course like a private club member, with many of the amenities and privileges traditionally associated with private clubs.
Established in 1971The course is designed by the legendary Desmond Muirhead (1923-2002), one of golf's most famous, most iconoclastic architects, who spent his whole career going against the grain of conventional course design. He laid out the championship course just before beginning an illustrious, at times controversial partnership with another golf legend, Jack Nicklaus. The Desert Island course is scenic from any angle, challenging but not outlandish, with gentle slopes, refreshment stations, shade trees, short distances between greens and tee boxes, and many personal amenities, from chilled towels to insulated water bottles. Wherever you are on the course, you are moments from what you need. On a hot day, Desert Island is the coolest place to be.
