Golf Courses Near Wake Forest, NC
The town of Wake Forest is a pleasant suburban community about 20 miles northeast of Raleigh. Though Wake Forest University is located in Winston-Salem, the school was actually founded here and located here until 1956. The area’s premier private golf courses are the Country Club at Wakefield Plantation and The Hasentree Club, but Wake Forest offers a bounty of public layouts for those looking for tee times. Paschal Golf Club is a course Arnold Palmer played when he was a Wake student. The Heritage Golf Club features a do-or-die par-3 over water and Brevofield Golf Links is notable for its panoramic views. Raleigh has its own plethora of courses, the nearest being the very popular, sporty Wil-Mar Golf Club.
Wake Forest boasts many parks and recreational areas. Known for its abundance of trees, Wake Forest features a walkable historic downtown district that is a popular gathering spot with its restaurants and small shops. An annual highlight is a fall dance festival. The Wake Forest Historical Museum explores the history of the town and Wake Forest College/University. Of course, the bigger city attractions of Raleigh are a half hour away. Just knowing that Arnold Palmer used to hang out here makes us like Wake Forest even more.
