Golf Courses in Beaumont, TX
Founded as an oil town after the eruption of “Spindletop” more than a century ago, Beaumont is a city built around energy with Cajun influences from its neighbors next door in Louisiana. A city of just over 120,000 residents 90 miles east of Houston, the largest city in the Golden Triangle – which also includes Orange and Port Arthur – offers cultural and recreational opportunities that include the Texas Energy Museum, Gator Country Adventure Park (with more than 600 alligators), Spindletop Gladys City Museum Boomtown Museum and a few golf courses. That last one is appropriate since Beaumont's most famous citizen was the great Babe Didrickson Zaharias. Not surprisingly, nearby there's a golf course named for the World Golf Hall of Famer and Olympic champion, Babe Didrickson Zaharias Memorial Golf Course, an 18-hole public layout that was designed by Leon Howard and opened in 1978. Other courses that the public can get tee times at include Harry Homberg Municipal Golf Course, semi-private Brentwood Country Club and 27-hole Bayou Din Golf Course. Recently renovated Beaumont Country Club is a high-quality private club in Beaumont.
