Golf Courses in Bay City, TX

About 75 miles southwest of Houston near the Texas coast near Matagorda, Bay City is a quiet town of just under 20,000. A couple of parks, historical sites and some nice local eateries highlight this peaceful community, which features a really nice local public golf course. Rio Colorado, a Gary Player design routed around the Colorado River, is a fun 6,885-yard par 72 course that's worth the drive from points southwest of Houston. It's the only public course right in Bay City, but not the only place you can get tee times. There's also the private nine-hole Bay City Country Club, which opened in 1950, and Bay-Cel Golf Course and Country Club, which is also nine holes. Other things to do in Bay City include the Matagorda Country Museum, the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail and Vacek's Barn, where you can shop antiques and crafts.
