Pleasant Valley Golf Club in Chantilly, Virginia, is a popular championship course in the Washington-D.C.-Capital Beltway region. Situated less than 10 miles from Dulles Airport, it s also a course worth considering for a round before or after a flight. When it opened in 1998 Pleasant Valley Golf Club earned rave reviews and over the years Washington Golf Monthly magazine has rated one of its Top 100 Courses in the Mid-Atlantic. A parkland-style layout designed by course architects Tom Clark and Kevin Atkinson in 1998, Pleasant Valley Golf Club spreads out on an expansive natural site with no houses anywhere in view. The playing field rambles over a diverse landscape of rolling hills, hardwood trees, and native grass meadows. Wide fairways and generous landing areas make for a user-friendly game that golfers of all skill levels find fun. Pleasant Valley Golf Club features four sets of tee markers that stretch the course from 5,106 yards to 6,915 yards. Each nine of the par-72 layout has two par 3s and two par 5s. All of the par 5s are substantial, with the no. 1 handicap 3rd maxing out at 596 yards. The 545-yard 5th is more memorable with an uphill tee shot and multiple options on the remaining shots enroute to the green. The rest of the holes offer a variety of challenges. Water enters the fray on six holes. The par-3th 7th requires a full carry over a pond. Clark and Atkinson enlivened the challenge with strategic bunkering, as all but two holes have bunkers. Pleasant Valley Golf Club s greens are large but rather flat. Practice facilities at the club include a driving range, short game area, and putting green. To use the range and short game area, players must purchase a small bucket of balls. The clubhouse features a well-stocked pro shop and a bar and grill. With its attractive setting and appealing variety of holes, Pleasant Valley Golf Club continues to be a favorite tee time choice for golfers in the Washington D.C. area.
