Hawaii Prince Golf Club on Oahu is the only 27-hole golf facility in the state of Hawaii. The course is located inland near Ewa Beach and is owned by the Prince Waikiki, a luxury hotel some 20 miles away. You need not stay at the resort hotel to get a tee time. While Hawaii Prince Golf Club may not be the first playing field traveling golfers think of when they wish to play on Oahu, it s a very popular choice among locals and holiday golfers seeking a fun, user-friendly and reasonably priced course (by Hawaii standards) that provides good value. Golf Advisor has rated it among the Top Courses in Hawaii. Hawaii Prince Golf Club, an Arnold Palmer-Ed Seay design from 1992, spreads out on 270 acres on the Ewa Plain on what was once a sugar cane field. Though the site itself lacks dramatic landforms and ocean vistas, it sits on the sunny west side of Oahu and showcases views of the Waianae Mountain Range. Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay made the most of the flat terrain when they laid the three nines known as the A, B and C nines. A total of 10 lakes dot the open and exposed playing field. The lakes, along with some areas of trees and thick vegetation, 90 bunkers, and wind make for an exhilarating but manageable challenge at Hawaii Prince Golf Club. Each nine has four sets of tee markers. Whatever combination of nines you play, the routings run roughly between 5,200 yards and 7,200 yards. The C nine is probably the toughest nine at Hawaii Prince Golf Club, as seven holes bring water into play. The signature hole and most formidable challenge on C is the 4th, a par-4 is defended by a lake on the left, fairway bunkers on the right, and out of bounds farther wide on the right. Water enters the fray on six holes on A and three holes on B. The B nine may be the easiest at Hawaii Prince Golf Club, but it concludes with what is arguably the sternest test at the facility a par 4 that plays into the wind with water to carry on the tee shot and water continuing to be in play on both the left and right sides of the fairway. The club prides itself on its fast greens. Practice facilities include a driving range with an added perk of armchair seating, a practice bunker, and three putting greens. The clubhouse features a pro shop and a restaurant that is a nice spot for lunch before or after your round. Hawaii Prince Golf Club may not have ocean vistas, but it s a fun, friendly, and well-maintained place to play when you want a resort-style game on Oahu
