Heron Bay Golf & Country Club s 18-hole championship course is the focal point of a master-planned golf community in Locust Grove, Georgia. Located five miles from I-75 on Highway 155 and just 30 miles south of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the golf course, a Jeff Burton design from 2004, is a gem in South Atlanta. Heron Bay Golf & Country Club prides itself on providing excellent customer service and a member for a day experience to everyone who has a tee time. Surrounded by beautiful houses (some of which are in range) and boasting stunning views of the Cole Reservoir, the expansive, par-72 layout extends from 5,151 yards to a whopping 7,306 yards from five sets of tee markers. Though the course is manageable for ordinary players (provided they can keep the ball in the fairways), Heron Bay Golf & Country Club gives skilled players all they can handle from its back and championship markers. Elevated tee boxes yield good looks at the trouble ahead while showcasing the picturesque surroundings. Trees and out of bounds pose threats beyond the narrow fairways. Water also threatens the swing on the majority of holes. You ll face several water crossings over a creek that winds through the layout. Heron Bay Golf & Country Club rambles over hilly ground, especially on the more challenging back nine. All throughout the course, Burton s strategically placed bunkers are quite penal. The well-conditioned layout features TifSport Bermuda fairways and bentgrass greens that roll true. Though walking is permitted, a couple of significant gaps from green to tee can make things frustrating for walkers. Plenty of wildlife deer, most notably populates the golf grounds. Practice facilities at Heron Bay Golf & Country Club include a driving range and a putting green. The clubhouse features a pro shop and a restaurant where you can toast your round with food and drinks.
