One of the premier public courses on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Sea Scape Golf Links showcases the natural beauty of the area with elevation changes and ocean views on several holes. The course, which was designed by Art Wall, opened in1968. The par-70 layout plays 6,200 yards from the back tees, and there are three other sets of tees, starting at around 4,800 yards to accommodate all levels of players. The golf course actually starts with the no. 1 handicap hole, the 579-yard, par-5 first, which is straight, but of course, long, and will require three good shots to get home in regulation for nearly all players. There isn't a whole lot of trouble on the course with just a few bunkers and no water features. But there is constant wind, given that the course is just a couple hundred yards from the Atlantic Ocean. Some holes are also tree-lined like the tree-lined sharp dogleg left 18th hole, a 342-yard par 4. In addition to the golf course, Sea Scape Golf Links also has a driving range, short-game area, and practice green. Lessons are available from the club's teaching professional. And inside the clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop, offering logoed apparel and accessories as well as the latest in equipment. The Sand Trap Tavern is a perfect spot to unwind after a round. The menu offers local, homegrown specialties prepared in its from-scratch kitchen, all within a relaxing tavern-style motif.
