Killerig Golf Club has built its reputation on having some of the country's finest greens. The greens were constructed to the highest USGA specifications, providing unrivaled putting surfaces that remain in top condition throughout the year. Opened in 2001, the course is relatively new but the verdant landscape surrounded by the Killeshin Hills to the west lends a mature feel. It also creates a pleasantly secluded atmosphere. Des Smyth designed the golf course with the assistance of Declan Brannigan. The design company that constructed the course is associated to many of the country's most well known courses including Rathsallagh and Glen of the Downs. Water hazards come into play one six holes and there are bunkers strategically placed throughout. While Killerig Golf Club does provide a fair amount of challenges, it is still player friendly enough for beginners to feel comfortable trying their hand on a round. Killerig's clubhouse, a quaint log cabin-style building, is also worth a visit.
