With a wide variety of holes, beautiful nature views and five sets of tees for every player The Preserve at Jordan Lake is a terrific semi-private golf course open to the public. A Davis Love III signature design, the par-72 course, rated four stars on GolfPass, plays more than 7,100 yards from the tips. The Preserve has been designated as an Audubon International Certified Sanctuary Golf Course, which means it upholds the highest environmental standards. It upholds high design standards as well, with no two holes alike, and all of them interesting. The no. 1 handicap hole is the 480-yard par-4 fourth, a difficult dogleg right that works around trouble and trees, and leaves almost any player a long approach, even with a perfectly placed drive. It's Love's favorite hole on the course, but the signature hole is up for debate. It could be the beautiful par-3 sixth that plays over water or the par-5 15th with multiple water features. In addition to the course, The Preserve has excellent practice facilities that include a full driving range, short-game area and practice putting green. The Preserve also has an excellent instruction program for anyone wanting to take lessons. In the clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop with the latest apparel, accessories and equipment. And the clubhouse restaurant, The Grille at The Preserve is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu includes a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, and entrees, as well as a nice selection of wines and beers.
