Formerly Hauppauge Country Club, Stonebridge Golf Links & Country Club is a design inspired by classic early American architecture. In a collaboration between famed golf course architect Gil Hanse and George Bahto, author of The Evangelist of Golf; The Story of Charles Blair Macdonald, the course, which reopened in 2001, zeros in on the designed by early 1900s classic architects C.B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor, drawing from famous holes at courses like National Golf Links, Piping Rock, and Fisher's Island. It features classic bunkering, tee boxes and push-up style greens with modern agronomic features. Best of all, this semi-private club is open for the public to enjoy. The par-70 course is just 6,245 yards long, and there are three sets of tees, starting at less than 5,000 yards so everyone can enjoy it. Rated well over four stars on GolfPass, the course showcases classic features like ragged bunkers, and Redan and Biarritz greens. There are also several water features as well as mature hardwoods that line many of the holes on this parkland design. In addition to the course at Stonebridge Golf Links & Country Club, golfers can also get lessons on the tee or on the course. They can visit the well-stocked golf shop in the large clubhouse on property. The clubhouse and outdoor gazebo and patios are perfect for special events or weddings. Plus there is a bar and grill with a full menu, open every day for golfers and non golfers to enjoy before or after rounds.
