Ranked as one of the best courses in the area, Westminster is a beautiful semi-private 18 hole facility located on the edge of Fort Myers inside a gated community in Lehigh. The course, which was designed by Ted McAnlis and opened in 1994, really does cater to every level of golfer. It has six sets of tees, ranging from just over 4,000 yards to 6,795 yards. The course winds its way around eight lakes with water coming into play on more than half the holes. Beautiful bunkering, turf conditions, wide fairways and elevated greens add to the enjoyment of this par-72 layout. The par 3s are particularly challenging. Three of them play well over 200 yards from the back tees. The 16th, which is 220 yards, plays mostly over water. The no. 1 handicap hole is the 424-yard fourth, a sharp dogleg right that hugs a lake for the entirety of the hole. While the club is open to the public, seasonal and yearly memberships are also available. Westminster Country Club also features terrific practice facilities, including a large grass driving range, short-game area and putting green. Lessons from the professional staff are also available. Inside the clubhouse you'll find a well-stocked golf shop as well as the Westminster Bar & Grille. This 19th hole restaurant offers a relaxing environment with traditional lunch fare and sweeping views of the golf course. The menu includes appetizers, salads and sandwich favorites. Patio seating and full bar service is available.
