Whitestone Golf Club, a municipal facility being operated by Clubcorp in Benbrook, Texas, offers a winning combination of fun, challenging, and affordable golf. Conveniently located just 15 minutes southwest of downtown Fort Worth, the club boasts a championship-caliber design by Jeff Brauer and Jay Morrish from 2000 that gets rave reviews from Dallas metroplex golfers. Brauer s best known courses in the region include Cowboys Golf Club and Tangle Ridge Golf Club, while Morrish s design credits include Las Colinas Sports Club in Irving and, more famously, The Boulders Golf Club and Troon North (with Tom Weiskopf) in Scottsdale, Arizona. At Whitestone Golf Club Brauer and Morrish took advantage of the attractive, gently rolling North Texas terrain to create a varied layout. The playing field fits the land beautifully as it extends over a 150-acre site that borders an upscale residential development. Much of course plays amidst terrain populated by cacti and mature oak trees. You will find a mix of tight and open holes. While the front nine at Whitestone Golf Club features secluded tree-lined playing corridors, the back nine is much more open and easier for scoring. A creek winds through the golf grounds and crosses the fairways of about half of the holes. Beware that the creek lies hidden in spots and may force lay-up shots. The only other water feature in play is a lake that threatens the swing on the par-3 5th hole. Whitestone Golf Club features several attractive dogleg holes and numerous strategically placed bunkers. The large well-groomed TifEagle greens are a strong suit of the course. With four sets of tee markers, Whitestone Golf Club can be played as short as 5,201 yards and as long as 7,117 yards. The only spots where the routing approaches houses are by the 6th and 7th holes and by the 15th and 16th holes. Most of the playing field enjoys a natural setting. With wildflowers and plenty of wildlife around, Whitestone Golf Club is a treat to play and a fun course to walk. Practice facilities include a driving range, chipping area and putting green. The clubhouse has a pro shop and a small dining area. Whitestone Golf Club s stated mission is to provide the best possible golf experience at the best possible price. Why not make a tee time and see if you concur with the legions of local golfers who swear that the club has succeeded.
