The Longbow Golf Club is a 7,000-yard par 72 golf course that showcases the best of desert golf in the Phoenix area. Originally opened in 1997, the course was designed by architect Ken Kavanaugh who would just a few years later direct a renovation that made this terrific test even more magnificent. The course, which has four sets of tees ranging from 5,202 yards to 7,050 yards, is the epitome of Arizona golf. Located in North Mesa, just minutes from Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport, it features emerald fairways set off by striking bunkers against the backdrop of the Superstition Mountains. The Longbow Golf Club has been ranked as one of the "top 20 courses you can play" by Golfweek Magazine. The course includes a 626-yard par-5, which kicks off the back nine. The dogleg left 10th, however, does not have any water or bunkers on it. But there is some water on the course. A lake comes into play between the fourth and sixth holes. The renovation in 2003 also included a brand new southwestern-style clubhouse that houses an expansive golf shop that offers the latest apparel, accessories and equipment. Inside you'll also find The Longbow Grille, which offers patio seating and a menu that includes breakfast and lunch as well as a full bar selection of cocktails and beer. Longbow Golf Club also has excellent practice facilities. There's a large grass driving range, as well as a short-game area and putting greens. Individual and group lessons are also available from the club's professional staff at The Longbow Golf Academy.
