Solid golf and a good value, Colonial Park Golf Club is one that both locals and anyone passing through will enjoy. Not particularly difficult, this parkland course will please all levels of players. It has four sets of tees, ranging from 4,819 yards to 6,856 yards for the longer hitters. Set among a housing development, the course opened in 1964 as private Chaparral Country Club. It?s been open to the public since 2011. The course was designed by Warren Cantrell, a former Texas Tech golf coach and president of the PGA of America. Cantrell designed 30 courses in West Texas and New Mexico. The no. 1 handicap hole at Colonial Park is the long, par-3 17th, which plays nearly 200 yards from the tips. The 18th is a dogleg left par-5 that plays 520 yards. It?s a good risk reward hole, and a great?finishing hole. Besides the golf course, Colonial Park also has a driving range, chipping and pitching green, and practice putting green. Inside the clubhouse is a well-stocked golf club with friendly staff. And the clubhouse restaurant, the 19th Hole, is open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Banquet facilities for special events are also available.?
