Offering one of the best inland courses in the Dominican Republic, Guavaberry Resort & Country Club is a great choice when visiting this golf-rich Caribbean destination. Located a mile and a half from the ocean, the course is a challenging Gary Player design that opened in 2002. Wind is always a factor. And from the back tees -- of which there are five sets -- the layout plays 7,140 yards. This beautiful design has a great variety of holes with lots of strategic bunkers, a few water features, and generally wide fairways. The two nine-hole loops meander through natural vegetation. The par-3 holes are especially memorable. The 146-yard 13th has alternate greens that are divided by a 15-foot waterfall. And the 155-yard par-3 15th features a rock-lined island green. There are some pretty challenging par-4 holes as well, like the the 439-yard 16th and the 466-yard, dogleg right 18th hole. In addition to the golf course, Guavaberry Resort & Country Club offers excellent practice facilities, which include a driving range, short-game area, and practice putting green. Inside the clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop with plenty of logoed apparel, and souvenirs. And there?s also Restaurant Hoyo 19, which is open every day.
