Located just east of downtown Houston, East River 9 is one of the most unique golf experiences in the Bayou City. The golf course is a part of a new mixed development that also includes residential units, shopping, walking trails and other activities. The golf course, a spectacularly well-conditioned nine hole, par-3 layout, offers memorable holes that range from 90 yards to 142 yards, which means most players will need just a few clubs for a relaxing, but challenging round of golf. The course, which opened in late 2022, was designed by Smelek Golf Design, a local golf course and outdoor space architecture company. The holes feature plenty of bunkers, some elevation change, beautifully sculpted greens, and lots of great views. The vistas include nearby Buffalo Bayou (hence the name East River 9) and the panoramic Houston skyline. The facility also includes a lighted driving range and practice area, so it's a great spot to work on your game. Golfers who are looking to improve their game can also take lessons here. Best of all, inside the clubhouse you will find a well-stocked golf shop with a great selection of apparel and accessories, and a terrific restaurant. The menu includes all sorts of locally-sourced dishes, such as street tacos, sandwiches and burgers, entrees, and desserts, plus an extensive craft beer menu.
