If you're looking for a fun golf course that's in good shape and won't beat you up, then Golden Pheasant Golf Club is your ticket. Opened in 1963, the course was designed by Stephen Kay and Doug Smith. The par-72 course plays just a little more than 6,000 yards from the tips, and there are four sets of tees, starting at 4,811 yards. But don't let the lack of yardage fool you. There are certainly some challenging holes, especially for those who play back. For example the par-4 fourth is 450 yards, so it's no wonder it's the no. 1 handicap hole. And there are some penalty areas where water comes into play, a number of strategically placed bunkers, and some heavy woods on the perimeter of the course, which is next to the Flying W. Airport. The front nine has plenty of holes that play both uphill and downhill, while the back nine is a little tighter. The finishing stretch of Golden Pheasant Golf Club features three short par 4s, including the 17th, which is just 288 yards from the back tees and a great risk-reward opportunity. Practice facilities include two separate putting greens and a netted driving range, which was installed in 2014. Golf lessons are available from the professional staff. And inside the clubhouse you'll find a golf shop as well as banquet room. Golden Pheasant, which is open to the public, also offers golf memberships. You can also book stay and play packages at the facility.
