Not far from Interstate 85 just south of Auburn, Alabama, the 9-hole Greens at Auburn Golf & Country Club is the centerpiece of an apartment community located only 10 minutes from the Auburn University campus. While residents of the complex enjoy complimentary membership and playing privileges, everyone else is welcome to make a tee time. The Greens at Auburn Golf & Country Club is known for its affordable and good value green fees. Unlike many of the apartment complex courses that are popular throughout Alabama, The Greens at Auburn is a regulation-length nine with some heft from the back tees. While this par-36 test can play as short as 2,382 yards, from the tips it maxes out at 3,412 yards. Although the layout, which debuted in 2010, winds amidst the apartment buildings, a sizable portion of the course rambles away from any housing. Narrow fairways lined by trees present the primary challenge at The Greens at Auburn. Additionally, players face forced carries over ponds on two tee shots, and a creek also crosses in front of a couple of greens. The putting surfaces at The Greens at Auburn are on the small side. They feature moderate undulations and typically roll a bit slow. Walking is permitted, but stay alert to the signage pointing to each hole, as the routing jumps around a bit. Also, beware of stray shots whether you are walking or driving. Practice facilities at The Greens at Auburn Golf & Country Club include a full driving range, a pitching and chipping area with a practice bunker, and a putting green. The golf shop is located within the complex's main clubhouse. You can get golf balls and other basic golf items, along with snacks and drinks, but there s no grill and seating is limited to a few tables inside and out on the patio. For an appealing 9-hole layout with practice facilities, consider a tee time at The Greens at Auburn Golf & Country Club.
