Heroes Golf Course in Los Angeles is a 9-hole par-3 course that is a sanctuary for veterans and the entire LA community. It s a relaxing, welcoming, and inclusive facility that is an ideal spot for beginners and seniors and for anyone looking to get in a little practice on their short game. Located on the north campus of the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration Medical Center and beside a Japanese garden, Heroes Golf Course sits on land donated long ago as a refuge for wounded veterans. The course was built in 1946 and since 2008 it has been operated by the Bandini Foundation, whose mission is to assist in veterans therapy. The course features holes that range in length from 99 yards to 181 yards. Each test is named after a legendary general or admiral. There s just one teeing area per hole and it is matted. You can place a tee in the mats. Heroes Golf Course presents a mix of flat holes and tests with modest elevation changes. A number of trees add definition to the playing corridors and may complicate some of your shots, but the layout is largely devoid of trouble. You won t encounter any sand bunkers or water hazards. The greens are about average in size. What Heroes Golf Course does have is a feel-good ambiance, a relaxing setting and distant views of the Getty Center and downtown Beverly Hills. All play is walking and pull carts are available. Practice facilities are limited to a putting green. The upgraded Heroes Golf Course clubhouse features a pro shop, a snack shop, the outdoor Master View Deck, and a patio. When you have a tee time to play here the proceeds go to the improvement of the course and to assist veterans. Heroes Golf Course is a hidden little 9-hole par-3 layout with a noble mission in West Los Angeles.
