Shannon Golf Club, designed by John D. Harris, was established in 1966. Today, it's considered among the best inland golf courses in Ireland and has hosted numerous Irish and European amateur championships. The course has a mix of sand-based and traditional greens, which are well protected by bunkers. The parkland layout also has a wide variety of trees that seem to show up at inopportune times. The par-3 17th, guarded by the Shannon Estuary, is the signature hole. A word of advice: Focus on the shot, not the estuary. After your round, head to Shannon Golf Club's clubhouse restaurant and enjoy the estuary view from there.
