Drayton Park is unique in that is was designed by a 5-time British Open Championship winner in James Braid. You can see the great man’s stamp on the course with only two par 5’s and three par 3’s. Synonymous with Braid Course’s the par 4’s take centre stage with the thin fairways, lined by tall overhanging trees and a number of bunkers placed strategically to make it a real test. The greens are well protected which make it a course for a golfer who can think their way round a course and pick the club selection. The golf course has continued to make strides to keep the course as up to date as possible with new and improved greens and fairways being maintained and changed throughout all seasons. The Golf Club’s hardest hole is the Par 4, 431 yard 8th hole, aptly named ‘Braids best.’ The tee shot is on to a tight and narrow fairway and against a strong prevailing wind. With your second shot being anywhere from a wood to a mid-iron it is important to get on the green. Bunkers surrounding the green and a slope that will gather any balls left of the flag make for a real tough but enjoyable hole. Try the challenging course for yourself then have a nice relaxing afternoon in the club house with the welcoming staff and members.
