Golf has been played on Rushmere Golf Club on the fringes of Ipswich for what must be well over a century. Rushmere Golf Club have a reputation of being one of the friendliest and most welcoming clubs in the County of Suffolk! Rushmere Golf Club which is a very well-established course caters for all ages, abilities and due to its speedy draining heathland soil, it is practically open all year round. Beautifully spread out over Rushmere Common the fairways are lined with golden gorse and purple heather. A great collection of oaks, horse chestnut, birch and blackthorn also divide many of the holes to add to the scenic charm of the course. It demands care and accuracy from many of the tees. Rushmere Golf Club is 6,265 yards (5,729 metres) with a par of 70 the course enjoys space and separation afforded by the expanse of Rushmere Common. Most who have played the course claim the fourteenth to be the Club’s signature hole, with both tee and green elevated with a pond at the bottom of the valley waiting to trap any lose shots. Each hole has its own individual characteristics with some even having some hidden surprises. Rushmere Golf Club is regarded as a good but a fair test of golf and will not leave you disappointed.
