Known for its excellent conditions, great greens, and player-friendly layout, Lake Chesdin Golf Club is one of central Virginia's best courses open to the public. Coming in at just under 7,000 yards, the course, which opened in 1999, was designed by Brian Tuck and Ault Clark. Lake Chesdin Golf Club, which is considered one of the better values in the area as well, received nearly five stars on GolfPass. It's also known for its friendly service and good pace of play. The course has four sets of tees, starting at just over 5,000 yards. While the course doesn't come into contact with Lake Chesdin itself, there are several holes where ponds come into play. But overall, fairways and landing areas are generous, the course doesn't have excessive bunkering, and the greens are very approachable. Many of the holes are lined by mature hardwoods, and the course features a variety of doglegs bending both ways. The no. 1 handicap hole is the 433-yard par-4 12th. A large fairway bunker looms on the right side, but a well placed tee shot makes this hole manageable. The 18th is a little shorter, but arguably harder than the 12th. The 423-yard dogleg right has a pond in front of the green, making for a difficult approach. Beside the championship course, Lake Chesdin also has excellent practice facilities. They include a full driving range, short-game area with practice bunker and practice putting green. This semiprivate club also offers a 20,000-square foot clubhouse, where you will find a well-stocked golf shop that offers the latest in apparel, accessories and equipment. The clubhouse restaurant is open to the public for casual dining both indoors and outdoors on the patio.?
