Among the favorite daily fee courses in the Knoxville area, Egwani Farms Golf Club is a family-owned and operated daily fee facility that never disappoints. The course, which opened in 1991, was the dream of Ernest Koella Jr., who wanted to provide the best maintained course and best golf experience in the area. To that end, the family hired D.J. DeVictor to design a championship layout that plays just over 6,700 yards from the back tees, offers a wide variety of holes, with seven of those coming along the Egwani River. Egwani, by the way, means "little river," where the Cherokee once had a fishing village. Before the course was built, the property was indeed a working farm. And in 2016, on its 25th anniversary, it underwent a complete renovation. The work included new Champion Bermuda greens, Billy style bunkers, 15 acres of fescue and new cart paths. The course is very playable with generous fairways. But there are two large lakes that come into play on several holes. On the par-5 sixth, water runs along the entire right side until it crosses the fairway on the approach shot. And on the par-4 seventh another lake comes into play from the tee all the way to the green on the right side. The course also has seven sets of tees, which start at just under 4,600 yards, so it's playable for all levels of golfers. Practice facilities at Egwani Farms include a driving range, short-game area, and practice putting green. And inside the family farmhouse clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop as well as a restaurant that offers fare seven days a week.
