If you're looking for a good place to practice and hone your golf skills or just want to play a quick nine, then the Harvey Penick Golf Campus, opened in 2005, might be the place for you. Named after the legendary teacher, coach, author and longtime pro at Austin Country Club – Ben Crenshaw and Tom Kite were two of his most famous pupils – this 112-acre facility offers a nine-hole PGA Tour-designed course, three-hole short course, fully grassed driving range, two practice greens and a 4,000-square-foot pavilion for special events. Named among the top 25 most improved courses by Golf Advisor in 2016 (no. 10), it's also the first facility in Austin to stage footgolf. The Harvey Penick Golf Campus' primary goal is to serve area youth in The First Tee program, which owns and operates the facility, but it is also open to the public. Each hole on the 2,127-yard nine-hole course is named after the nine core values of The First Tee – Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Responsibility, Perseverance, Courtesy and Judgment.
