Golf Courses Near Superior, WI

In the upper northwest corner of Wisconsin, the city of Superior commands the southern end of a bay and natural harbor it shares with Duluth, Minnesota. Together they form a metropolitan area called the Twin Ports, which form the largest freshwater port in the world. Superior is definitely the little sister to Duluth. Whereas Duluth boasts no fewer than eight golf facilities, Superior only has the 36 holes of Nemadji Golf Course and Pattison Park Golf Course, a little nine-hole layout. If you are considering a tee time at Nemadji, both courses are tree-lined but the East/West eighteen is longer and more scenic with more elevation changes compared to the more popular, flatter and easier North/South layout. Notable in Duluth is the 27-hole Enger Park Golf Club, a muni perched on a bluff with distinct parkland, traditional, and link-style nines that showcase views of Duluth harbor. Keep in mind that Duluth is the gateway to the brilliant golf courses of Minnesota’s Iron Range some 70 miles to the north.

Superior has the advantage of being close to Duluth yet also just 15 minutes from the Northwoods wilderness. Two state parks just beyond the city boast picturesque waterfalls and impressive rapids. Lake Superior is at hand for all sorts of land and water activities. To gain an appreciation of Superior’s maritime heritage, tour the SS Meteor, the last above-water Whaleback freighter in the world. Additional museums, grand Gilded Age houses, and the Wisconsin Point Lighthouse are all worth a visit, while casino gambling is also an option. We’re betting that sooner rather than later, you’ll just want to be back out on the golf course.
