Golf Courses Near River Falls, WI
River Falls sits on the Kinnickinnic River in the St. Croix Valley of Western Wisconsin, no more than 30 to 45 minutes from Minnesota’s Twin Cities. All three golf courses in and around River Falls allow you to make tee times. The first choice of skilled players is often River Falls Golf Club, a hidden gem that Golf Advisor has rated among Wisconsin’s top courses. Mature trees
lend character to this challenging 1929-vintage layout that has some tricky blind shots and is all about placement. Kilkarney Hills Golf Course moves from flat ground to intriguing hilly terrain, but every hole is different on this tranquil course that showcases views of the St. Croix Valley. At Clifton Hollow Golf Course a deep hollow or valley enters the fray on a couple of holes, but the ultimate challenge is the par-5 finisher, dubbed “The Monster of Clifton,” which tops out at well over 600 yards. Keep in mind there are impressive courses a little to the north in the town of Hudson and across the border in Minnesota. A great choice where you might also score a hot deal is Eagle Valley Golf Course in Hastings, perennially rated one of the top courses in Minnesota by Golf Advisor.
River Falls is family-friendly with a small town feel, but it has the youthful zest of a college town thanks to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The Kinnickinnic River flows right through town and bisects the university. The river, called the “Kinni” here, is a prime spot for all sorts of recreation, especially kayaking and fly fishing. River Falls is famous for its trout, so what better way to cap a day of golf than to tuck into some fresh local trout with a craft beer in hand.
