Golf Courses Near Oshkosh, WI
Of all the cities and towns in Wisconsin, none is more fun to say than “Oshkosh,” by gosh. Located in the east central portion of the state on the shores of Lake Winnebago, Oshkosh is home to a number of courses where you can make tee times. This includes the private Oshkosh Country Club, a classic tree-lined course that opened way back in 1899 and began allowing public access on most days of the week in 2020. Mature trees hug the fairways, demanding accuracy to the small greens of this Oshkosh gem. Built on a former farm, Westhaven Golf Club is nonetheless dotted by many trees and woodlands along with numerous natural areas. A few ponds and a creek bring water into play on eight holes. A creek twists through Far Vu Golf Course, which boasts mature trees, woodland surroundings, and excellent natural drainage. Proceeding on Oshkosh’s characteristically flat terrain, Utica Golf Club boasts a varied collection of holes, a majority of which are rather narrow and bring water into play. For an additional course option, including a chance for a Hot Deal tee time, consider Westridge Golf Club, a links-style layout with exciting elevation changes and water looming on 14 holes in nearby Neenah.
Oshkosh is a college town, as it is home to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, but the city is best known as the home of the Oshkosh, B’gosh children’s apparel company and its trademark overalls. Oshkosh is also world famous for the annual Experimental Aircraft Association Fly-in Convention, which brings huge crowds to Oshkosh to see aircraft of all shapes and sizes in flight. Those magnificent men and women and their flying machines are commemorated at the EAA Air Adventure Museum. For beaches and water activities, Oshkoshers head to Lake Winnebago. Menominee Park is the most beautiful park in town. In summer, especially, downtown comes alive with outdoor concerts, cultural events, festivals, and farmers markets. It turns out that in addition to golf, there’s a lot to do in Oshkosh, by golly.
