Golf Courses Near Neenah, WI
Neenah, Wisconsin is a small city on the northern shores of Lake Winnebago between Appleton and Oshkosh and just 40 miles southwest of Green Bay. The Kimberly Clark Corporation, a producer of paper-based consumer products, was founded here, but nowadays Neenah’s fame comes from the manhole covers and grates on streets all across the country produced at the Neenah Foundry. You will want strong footing when you have a tee time at one of the appealing courses in and around Neenah. Winagamie Golf Club, a 27-hole facility, offers something for players of all abilities. The standard 18 consists of the Pines and Woodlands nines. While you can play recovery shots when you are amidst the scattered pine trees on the Pines nine, the Woodlands nine proceeds through dense forest corridors and offers little leeway if you veer off the fairway. Meanwhile, the far friendlier Highlands nine is an executive-style layout that is ideal for beginners, juniors, and families. At Westridge Golf Club, a very hilly layout with water looming on 14 holes, beware of the impact of the wind. If you are lucky you can score a Hot Deal tee time here. Other options to consider when making tee times include Chaska and Reid Municipal, both of which are in nearby Appleton.
Given Neenah’s location on Lake Winnebago and the Fox River, it’s not surprising that residents eagerly take to the outdoors and the water. Lake Winnebago is Wisconsin’s largest inland lake and it is a paradise for boating and fishing. Downtown Neenah comes alive with its Farmers Market, Concerts in the Park, Cemetery Walk, and numerous festivals. Prime attractions include the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum, which showcases 3,000 pieces of glass art, the Smith Octagon House, an architectural marvel from 1852 that now serves as a local history museum, and a gallery of gems in minerals from around the world. The real gems for golfers, though, are Neenah’s stunning layouts.
