Golf Courses Near Franklin, TN
Franklin, Tennessee, named for Ben Franklin, is a fast-growing affluent suburb of Nashville that’s often touted as one of the best places to live in the Volunteer State. Southern Living magazine has called Franklin “one of the South’s Prettiest Towns.” Most of Franklin’s golf is private, including the two 18s at the Vanderbilt Legends Club, the home club of Vanderbilt University’s golf teams. Immediately next door to Vanderbilt Legends, the Little Course at Conner Lane, a short, public 9-hole par-3 course, is a treat for families looking for tee times. You can count on immaculate conditions, as the playing field is overseen by the superintendent of the Legends Club. Touted as one of Tennessee’s best 9-hole layouts, the somewhat longer Cheekwood Golf Club is fun for beginners and skilled players alike. Franklin Bridge Golf Club (formerly The Crossing Golf Club) is a classic full-scale layout that features water on 15 holes bordering the Warpath River. Many more public-access courses lie to the north as you approach Nashville itself.
Though it’s a suburb of Nashville, Franklin has carved out its own identity. Downtown Franklin is walkable and known for its architecture, unique shops, enticing restaurants, entertainment venues, and farmers market. The Franklin Theater is a restored vintage movie palace that now doubles as a treasured performance venue–you might even catch a Nashville country music star performing there. Franklin residents love festivals, the most popular of which are the Main Street Festival in spring, the Music and Cultural Festival in September, and the Pumpkin Fest in October. Just south of town, adults can take tours of the H Clark Distillery, the first legal distillery for bourbon and whiskey established locally after Prohibition. If all this doesn’t suffice, downtown Nashville is only 20 miles away.
