Golf Courses Near Anderson, SC
Anderson, South Carolina, located 30 miles southwest of Greenville and 15 miles or so from the Georgia border, likes to call itself “the Friendliest City in the South.” Golfers looking for tee times will find it a friendly place, as four golf courses list an Anderson address. Skilled players gravitate to Cobb’s Glen Country Club, a tough test with 90 bunkers and fast greens. Pine Lake Golf Club, which opened in the early 1960s, is an option for a Hot Deal. Holes routed around a large lake highlight this hilly, heavily wooded layout. You can also score a Hot Deal at The Club at Brookstone, which, since being renovated in 2016 has earned raves for its practice facilities, smooth greens, and fine course conditions. Rounding out Anderson’s foursome of courses is Stone Creek Cove, a beginner and family-friendly 9-holer that anchors a lakeside community development. Note that The Walker Course at Clemson University, 2020’s top university course in the U.S. according to Golf Advisor, is just 20 miles south of Anderson.
Anderson made its mark in the late 1800s as one of the first Southern cities to be electrified and the first city in the world to use harnessed hydroelectric power. The 16-block Historic Downtown district features an array of shops and eateries. Anderson is home to a few craft breweries, and you can get craft whiskey at the Palmetto Distillery, South Carolina’s legal moonshine distillery. Numerous farms in and around Anderson offer tours and showcase artisan goat cheeses, honey, and other local products. Nature lovers and adventure seekers make haste to Lake Hartwell and numerous state parks in the upstate region. Keep in mind that Anderson is only a short drive to Greenville for entertainment and to Clemson for big-time college football and other sports, including golf.
