Golf Courses Near Ardmore, OK
Ardmore, located on I-35 in southern Oklahoma, is about 100 miles from both Oklahoma City and Dallas, Texas. While Dornick Hills, a Perry Maxwell design, is, alas, a private country club, Ardmore is full of options for anyone wishing to make tee times. Lakeview Golf Club is a scenic, somewhat hilly course with small greens and a lake in play on many holes. At Lake Murray State Park Golf Course, you will find a tree-lined playing field with large greens and ponds in play on four holes. In Burneyville, Falconhead Resort and Country Club features a Robert Trent Jones, Sr. design that moves from flat ground to more intriguing terrain with undulating greens. The club, which has hosted pro tour events, was previously rated one of Oklahoma’s best courses by Golf Advisor. At WinStar World Casino & Resort, Winstar Golf Course features two playable 18s that have been rated among Oklahoma’s best courses—RedBud, a wide-open links-style layout, and Scissortail, a narrower, more traditional and slightly harder test. Ardmore’s motto is “Ardmore is the way to play.” This small city has become a regional weekend getaway spot thanks to its charming historic downtown and several impressive parks and lakes. Lake Murray State Park and Chickasaw National Recreation Area are popular nature and recreation spots that offer all sorts of water activities in addition to hiking. Main Street in downtown Ardmore is lovely to stroll on your way to dinner or a night out. The Goddard Center is Ardmore’s performing arts center. Ardmore is also home to a number of eclectic museums. The city’s old armory houses the Greater Southwest History Museum. A section of the public library is devoted to a doll museum. Another unique Ardmore attraction is the Toy & Action Figure Museum, the first museum devoted to the art, sculpting and collection of such toys and figures. A half hour out of town, you can try your luck at the WinStar Casino, or better still, lay some friendly wagers down with your partners during a tee time at one of WinStar’s two golf courses.
