Golf Courses Near Staten Island, NY
From the beaches on the East Shore to the Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Gardens, there’s much to explore on State Island, New York City’s least-populated borough. Staten Island, which also has some of the city’s oldest and most historic buildings, has more than 170 parks that cover more than 12,000 acres That green space also includes golf courses, many of which have tee times available to the public. Among them is LaTourette Golf Course, a David Rees design that goes back to 1936. The par-72 layout plays nearly 6,700 yards from the tips. Perhaps the best public option, however, is Silver Lake Golf Course, which sits on Staten Island’s North Shore. A John Van Kleek design that opened in 1929, the 6,300-yard course has great views, small greens and narrow fairways, providing a tough test. South Shore Golf Course is another public option, while Richmond Country Club is a beautiful private club on Staten Island.
