Golf Courses near Schenectady, NY
The longtime home of General Electric, Schenectady, which is just outside of the capital city of Albany, has a wealth of history and things to do. The city of around 65,000 people also has the oldest barber shop in New York, theater, live music and plenty of coffee shops and local restaurants. The outdoors scene is pretty good, too, including lots of parks and golf courses. Among the courses open to the public are two municipal facilities. Town of Colonie has 36 holes, including 27 designed by William Mitchell and the newest nine holes, the Green Course, designed by Rick Jacobson. Other courses where the public can book tee times include Schenectady Municipal Course, which opened in 1935, as well as Whispering Pines Golf Club, a nifty par 55 course.
