Golf Courses Near Waynesville, NC
Located in a valley surrounded by forested mountains some 30 miles west of Asheville, Waynesville rivals Blocking Rock and Highlands as an upscale summer vacation spot. Unlike Highlands, Waynesville gives golfers looking for tee times a variety of options, including some that unlock hot deals. Lake Junaluska Golf Course is a par-68 layout that consists of an old nine from 1919 and a second nine from the1990s. The par-3 9th plays beside the lake to a minuscule green. Maggie Valley is a varied jewel with a fairly flat front nine and a hillier, highly scenic back nine inundated with streams. At the recently renovated Springdale Country Club, which also features contrasting nines and has a new clubhouse overlooking Cold Mountain, watch out for the 4th hole, a scorecard-busting test known as “The Springdale Spasm.” Additionally, overnight guests of The Inn on the Green can play at Laurel Ridge Country Club, while Balsam Mountain Preserve also offers limited stay and play for its Arnold Palmer designed course.
