Golf Courses Near New Bern, NC
A historic low country port city at the confluence of the Neuse and Trent River, New Bern is famously the place where Pepsi-Cola was first made. Pepsi’s current slogan is “That’s What I Like,” which is what golfers say when making tee times at New Bern’s courses. The Emerald Golf Club, where you must pull off do-or-die water carries on three par 3s, is rated one of Golf Advisor’s top North Carolina courses. Other popular options include Harbor Pointe Golf Club, which winds through coastal marsh and features a dramatic view of Broad Creek and the Neuse River on the 17th hole, and Carolina Colors Golf Club, which rambles over surprisingly rolling wooded terrain.
New Bern briefly served as North Carolina’s capital just before and during the Revolutionary War. The city’s premier historic attraction, the reconstructed Tryon Palace, was the state’s first capitol building. The site also features six acres of gardens and the adjacent North Carolina History Center. New Bern’s vast, revitalized downtown is a giant historic district filled with architecturally intriguing buildings from four centuries. The downtown waterfront is a center for activity, and the rivers are extremely wide here and heavily used for kayaking, sailing, fishing and other pastimes. It’s easy to see why New Bern’s mantra is “Everything Comes Together Here.”
