Golf Courses Near West Bloomfield, MI
There’s no shortage of mansions of golf courses, especially prestigious private facilities, in West Bloomfield. This affluent northern Detroit suburb, which split off from the rest of Bloomfield decades ago, has some of the nicest private clubs in the state. Michigan’s most well-known, the Donald Ross-designed 36-hole Oakland Hills Country Club, is just minutes away in Bloomfield Hills. Oakland Hills has staged nine major championships and two Ryder Cups. There are opportunities, however, for the public to get tee times in West Bloomfield. Bay Pointe Golf Club and Shenandoah Country Club are both popular 18-hole courses open to the public. And just south in Farmington Hills is Glen Oaks Golf Course, which opened in 1930 and was designed by Bruce Matthews III. But if you’re lucky enough to get a reciprocal or know a member at a private club, the options are many. In West Bloomfield alone, Tam O’Shanter, Knollwood and Twin Beach country clubs are all historic and well-kept layouts. And the neighboring communities offer dozens more.
