Golf Courses Near Big Rapids, MI

Named for the moving water in the Muskegon River, Big Rapids is a city of around 10,000 people, located a little more than an hour north of Grand Rapids in western Michigan. It’s also home of Ferris State University, known for its pharmacology and optometry programs. Ferris is also where one of the original PGA of America’s Professional Golf Management Program is offered. The university course, the Katke Course, offers tee times to the public. It has a beautiful 6,900-yard layout, plus an additional three holes, making it perfect for all levels of players. Other public courses in Big Rapids include Falcon Head Golf Course and Clear Lake Golf Club, a semiprivate facility that goes back to 1918. Tullymore Golf Resort, which has the highly acclaimed Jim Engh-designed championship course, is just south of Big Rapids in Stanwood.
