Golf Courses Near Battle Creek, MI
If you love cornflakes, then a trip to Battle Creek should be on your agenda. After all, this is where they were invented, which is why this small city in Calhoun County in south central Michigan is referred to as “Cereal City.” The headquarters of the Kellogg Co. even has a welcome center with a full exhibit of the history of Kellogg and Post cereals. But it’s hardly Battle Creek’s only virtue. This river city has museums, art galleries, spacious parks, lakes and plenty of other outdoor recreational opportunities, including golf. While it’s home to the prestigious and private Battle Creek Country Club, a 1919 Willie Park classic design, it’s also home to lots of public facilities. Just in Battle Creek alone, you’ll find courses like Marywood Golf Club, Oakland Hills Golf Club and 27-hole Binder Creek, a Battle Creek municipal. But right next door is one of the largest golf resorts in the Midwest and one of Michigan’s finest, Gull Lake View Golf Club & Resort, which has 108 holes. Eighteen of those holes belong to the much-heralded Stoatin Brae Golf Course, a links-style layout designed by Michigan’s own Tom Doak.
