Known for its rich history, Haverhill is a city that goes back hundreds of years. Located about 35 miles north of Boston just south of the New Hampshire border this community of just under 80,000 residents, was once the shoemaking capital of the United States and earned the nickname Queen Slipper City in the early 1900s. Today it offers all sorts of things to do, whether it’s touring historic homes that go back to the 1600s, enjoying the city’s many eateries and pubs, or taking advantage of the outdoors, whether it be at a park or a golf course. Among the most popular golf courses open to the public is Bradford Country Club, which was designed by Geoffrey Cornish and Brian Silva. Or golfers could venture just across the state border to New Hampshire to visit Atkinson Resort and Country Club, which has both a championship course and par-3 layout.
