Golf Courses Near Columbus, IN
Known for its architecture and laid-back lifestyle, Columbus is a medium sized city with lots to offer. The downtown area is a mix between 19th and 20th century buildings with such noted designers as I.M. Pei and Eero Saarinen having made their marks there. A northwest suburb of Indianapolis, Columbus is also the where you will find the headquarters of Cummins Inc, a manufacturer of diesel engines, but the real star are the more than 70 buildings created by famed architects. They include churches, fire stations, schools, office buildings and the1950s Miller House and Gardens, an example of modernist architecture that could have served as a set for the popular TV show, Mad Men. The city also has its share of terrific restaurants and pubs like 450 North Brewing Co., 4th Street Bar & Grill and Henry Social Club. And for those who like to hit the links, there are no shortages of golf tee times in Columbus as well. One of the most popular is the 27-hole Otter Creek Golf Course, originally designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., with an additional nine holes added by son Rees Jones. Open to the public, it’s one of more than a dozen courses in the immediate area with most of them open to the public.
