Golf Courses Near Golden, CO
Originally known as the Golden City and the supply stop before miners headed to the great Pike’s Peak gold rush of the 1800s, Golden is a city with lots of fun things to do and see. Also home of Colorado’s best known beer, Coors, the city located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains west of Denver, has lots of museums, historic buildings, great restaurants and pubs and plenty to do outdoors. Among the museums are the Golden History Center, Astor House Hotel Museum, Clear Creek History Park, Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, Colorado Railroad Museum, Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum, and the Bradford Washburn American Mountaineering Museum. The area’s outdoor activities cover the spectrum, too, including hiking, biking, rock climbing, kayaking, fishing and, of course, golf. There are scores of terrific private and public golf courses offering tee times. Among the best is Fossil Trace Golf Club, a fascinating Jim Engh design that works around 60-million-year-old fossil sites and old mining equipment.
