Arbutus Ridge Golf Club

One of several gems on Vancouver Island, Arbutus Ridge Golf Club offers a fun, scenic golf course, just 25 minute from the outskirts of the capital city of British Columbia, Victoria. Originally designed by Bill Robinson in 1987, the course was rated four stars by Golf Digest. It's not long at 6,152 yards, but it can certainly be challenging. Best of all, there are four sets of tees, starting with the Quik tees that are just over 3,000 yards, perfect for beginners or anyone looking to play a quick round. Located just a couple hundred yards from the sea, wind is almost always a factor. The no. 1 handicap hole is the 527-yard, par-5 seventh. There's not much trouble, but this heavily tree-lined hole requires accuracy. The back nine climbs a ridge, overlooking the Satellite Channel. And there are plenty of the namesake Arbutus trees that come into play. In addition to the golf course, Arbutus Ridge has a full-length driving range with five target greens, two short-game areas, and a practice putting green. Group instruction as well as individual lessons are available. Inside the clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop with a wide selection of apparel and accessories. And the Satellite Bar & Grille, which is open on weekends for breakfast and all other days for lunch and dinner, has a wrap-around patio with great ocean views. The menu includes a wide variety of locally-sourced dishes, including seafood, sandwiches, and entrees, as well as a nice selection of craft beer and cocktails.
