Champion Lakes Golf Course is a beautiful 9-hole layout in the Kootenays region of southeastern British Columbia. Located just off of Highway 3B, the course is a source of pride for the residents of the village of Fruitvale and the Beaver Valley. Designed by Boyd Barr in 1992 with the assistance of many local golfers, Champion Lakes Golf Course rambles amidst rolling hills with mountains all around. Three small ponds and a creek form the centerpiece of the par-36 layout that was carved out of dense forest in a narrow valley. Water hazards enter the fray on four holes of this playing field that measures 2,384 yards from the front markers and 2,889 yards from the back tee deck. You ll find a number of holes that present scoring opportunities one of the par 3s and one of the par 5s are very short and the longest of the five par 4s is 350 yards. The chief challenge boils down to keeping balls in play on tree-lined fairways that are no more than 30 yards wide. Straggling trees constrict the landing areas further and thick rough looms beyond the short grass. Errant shots that drift wide often disappear forever.
