Girvan Golf Course
40 Golf Course Road, Girvan, Ayrshire, KA26 9HWHoles 18 Par 64 Length 5064 yards
- Year built: 1902
- Architect(s): James Braid
- Season: Year round
Originally opened in 1902, it wasn't until the 1920's when James Braid took full advantage of this unique setting to create this hidden gem, Girvan golf course. A popular golf course, which boasts stunning views of Ailsa Craig, the isle of Arran and the Southern Uplands, the course, lying on the northern outskirts of the town, is unusual in that it is a game of two halves. The opening eight holes are exposed to the winds and elements of the coastline offering a pure links experience. The second ten holes are parkland, with lush fairways, trees and rough. This latter part has the added problem of the river winding through the course. At only 5064yds and Par 64, Girvan is not the longest, good club selection and clever course management are key to scoring well round this memorable course
